We will make you feel "Right at Home" as you walk through the doors at Fair Haven. You will be greeted with warm smiles, firm handshakes, and "group hugs." Visit our Welcome Desk to see "What's Happening, or if you have any questions. We have a special gift for our first time visitors, just a token to say "Thank You" for visiting with us, and also refreshments after service in our Fellowship Hall. If you are looking for a new church family, that has a heart for missions and outreach, look no further.
Jeans? OK. "Come As You Are" casual dress code, or if you choose to wear your Sunday "Best,"that's OK too. We believe God looks at the heart of the person, not what they are wearing.
We have "variety" in our worship. Hymms, contemporary Christian, "WOW" hits from years gone by, gospel, and even rock, but we promise, you won't have to wear earplugs. We welcome the Holy Spirit's guidance in our worship, so you may hear an occasional prophecy and interpretation. You may be surprised to see our youth take part in worship with singing with the Worship Team, and our very young love to "flag."
You will love our Pastor! Pastor Thomas Finley. He gives a "heartfelt" sermon, along with light-hearted humor, use of "props,"and is not afraid to "step on our toes," if it means that his congregation is becoming more Christ-like. All sermons are taped for "audio" and are uploaded on our website. We also have "LIVE" Spanish interpretation of each sermon.
What will your kids encounter? We have a dynamic kids program called K2 - Kingdom Kids/Kingdom Konnection headed by Patti and John Marks, who has worked with children for 30+ years in downtown Detroit "Good News Gang." There is a Creative Arts program during the summer months and during the school year we have Kids Church. Kids can also visit the "Store" where they can cash in for prizes for good behavior, learning their Bible verses, attendance, etc.
Extreme Youth is led by Pastor Tanisha Finley, who has a heart for young people. She is dedicated to "reaching" the youth in surrounding neighborhoods, and has worked with Central Detroit Christian for many years. There is a worship service on Sundays and Wednesdays and a look at the Scriptures to help them implement Christ-like behaviors in their own environments.
Like to read? Watch movies? Listen to music? We have a library where you can check out "New Releases" from Christian authors, artists and musicians, and some "oldies but goodies." Going on a long trip and need something to bid your time, take out one of our many sermon talks. We also have many secular DVDs from Disney, Hallmark, and a special Christmas library.
Thank-You for your consideration in making Fair Haven your church "Home."
